Grit: Daily Habit Tracker Grit: Daily Habit Tracker Grit Launch App

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GrittyApps ("GrittyApps", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Grit mobile, watch, and desktop applications (the "App") and the gritapp.net website (the "Website", and together with the App, the "Service"). It also describes your privacy rights and how to exercise them. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Who we are

GrittyApps is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. If you have any questions about this Policy or your personal data, contact us at support@gritapp.net.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide. When you email us or respond to in-app surveys, we collect your email address and any information you choose to share.
  • Your habit data (stored in iCloud). The habits, logs, notes, reminders, and settings you create are stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), which is tied to your Apple ID. GrittyApps does not have access to the contents of your private iCloud store. If you use the optional Sharing / Shared Space feature, the habit data you choose to share is shared with the people you invite, through Apple's CloudKit sharing.
  • Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit). With your permission, the App reads certain Apple Health data — such as active and basal energy, workouts, and blood pressure — solely to display your habit progress. Health data is processed on your device and stored in Apple Health and your private iCloud. We do not use Health data for advertising, we do not share it with third parties, and we do not transmit it to our analytics providers. You can change or revoke Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings (Privacy and Security, then Health) or in the Apple Health app.
  • Location data. If you enable location-based reminders, the App uses your precise location, including in the background, to remind you when you arrive at or leave places you choose (geofencing). This processing happens on your device; we do not collect or store your coordinates on our servers, and we do not use location for advertising.
  • Calendar. If you enable calendar reminders, the App writes habit reminders (which may include the habit title or notes) to your device calendar. Calendar content is not transmitted to us.
  • Notifications. The App sends local notifications (reminders) and uses the Apple Push Notification service for silent CloudKit sync notifications. We do not collect push tokens for marketing.
  • Usage, analytics, and device data. To understand how the Service is used and to improve it, we and our analytics partners collect usage and interaction events, app and feature metadata (for example, whether a habit has a name and a rough length range — not the habit content itself), engagement metrics, device and operating-system information, app version, a pseudonymous installation/CloudKit identifier, and — where you allow tracking (see "App Tracking Transparency and advertising" below) — your device advertising identifier (IDFA) and attribution identifiers.
  • In-app session replay. The App uses Amplitude Session Replay to record anonymized in-app interaction sessions (such as touches and screen views) to help us find and fix usability problems. Sensitive fields are masked. Our Website does not use session-replay technology.
  • Purchase and subscription data. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements and your subscription status. We receive purchase events and subscription status, not your full payment card details.
  • Website cookies and similar technologies. The Website uses strictly necessary cookies to function and, only with your consent, analytics and advertising cookies and identifiers from Google and Meta (see "Cookies and consent"). The Website also reads advertising click identifiers (such as Meta's fbclid and _fbp) and attribution parameters to attribute App Store installs to our marketing, via Adjust.

How we use information

  • To provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Service;
  • To sync your data across your devices through iCloud;
  • To provide reminders, statistics, and the Health and Calendar integrations you enable;
  • To process and manage subscriptions and refunds;
  • To measure and improve the Service and our marketing, including attribution and, with your consent, advertising;
  • To respond to your support requests and communicate with you; and
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

App Tracking Transparency and advertising

On iOS, before any cross-app tracking, the App asks for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you allow it, we and our partners (such as Meta, Adjust, and Google) may use your advertising identifier to measure ad performance and attribute installs across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, we do not use your advertising identifier for cross-app tracking. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings (Privacy and Security, then Tracking).

Third parties and sub-processors

We share limited data with the service providers below, who process it on our behalf or as independent controllers for the purposes shown. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Apple — App distribution, in-app purchases, refunds, iCloud storage, HealthKit, and push notifications.
  • Amplitude — product analytics and in-app session replay.
  • Google / Firebase — crash reporting (Crashlytics), analytics, and ad measurement.
  • RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
  • Adjust — mobile attribution and measurement.
  • Meta (Facebook) — advertising, retargeting, and install attribution.
  • TikTok — advertising and conversion measurement.
  • Google Ads — conversion measurement.
  • Website analytics and advertising — Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, which are enabled only with your consent on the Website (before you consent, no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and the Meta Pixel is not loaded).

Cookies and consent

Our Website uses strictly necessary cookies and local storage so the site can function. We use analytics and advertising cookies and identifiers (Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel) only after you opt in through our cookie banner. Until you consent, these are denied by default: no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and the Meta Pixel is not loaded. When you first visit you can choose "Accept" or "Decline", and you can change your decision at any time by clearing this site's saved preference (or all cookies and site data) in your browser. Declining also serves as your "Do Not Sell or Share" choice for the Website.

Data sharing with Apple (refunds)

When you request a refund through the App, certain information about your purchase and account may be shared with Apple to facilitate the review of your refund request. This is consistent with our Terms of Use and limited to that purpose.

International data transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, such transfers are made under appropriate safeguards (for example, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses).

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy and as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymized. Your habit data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to our providers' retention settings.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (including the EEA and UK under the GDPR, and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. EEA and UK users may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

Lawful bases (EEA/UK). We process personal data based on the performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (analytics, advertising, Health, Location, and Calendar access, and cookies), and our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service).

California. We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of advertising cookies and identifiers (Meta, Google) may be considered "sharing" or a "sale" under California law. You can opt out by declining in the cookie banner on our Website, by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and by emailing us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. To opt out, choose "Decline" in the Website cookie banner or decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

To exercise any right, email support@gritapp.net. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, we will seek your consent. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
